Van Gogh's happiest days - in Ramsgate A new Tate Britain show concentrates on Vincent's time in London. But he preferred teaching in a British seaside town, says Patrick West
I have nothing particular to say about this specific article, though I enjoyed it. I just wanted to say that I read a lot of your stuff, including two of your books, and think you are a terrific writer. You are especially good at evoking the beauty of things gone or in the process of going. I think you must be quite a nostalgic person. I also enjoy your descriptions of the east Kent seaside and sky. It reminds me a little of Larkin; almost surprised to find himself where he is, in this time, alive.
